Mechatronics technician or commercial specialist for digitalization management?

Apprenticeship Day at Schunk completely booked up

The Apprenticeship Day gave young people the opportunity to find out about the wide range of apprenticeships offered by the technology company.

School successfully completed - but then what? What apprenticeship professions are there? On Apprenticeship Day last Saturday, Schunk Group trainees and instructors provided insights into the wide range of apprenticeships offered by the international technology group at its Heuchelheim, Wettenberg and Reiskirchen sites.

"We want to get young people excited about technical professions. This works best in direct exchange with our trainees, who organize this event themselves every year," Steffen Friedrich, Schunk's Head of Human Resources Germany, is convinced.

Insights into a wide range of apprenticeship professions

To all those interested in technical training, the trainees demonstrated how CNC-controlled machine tools are operated and workpieces are machined using techniques such as milling, turning and grinding. Trainers and trainees were also available to answer questions about the commercial apprenticeships.

Also present were the Schunk companies OptoTech from Wettenberg and Weiss Technik from Reiskirchen, which provided information at their own booths about their wide range of training opportunities. Because of Corona, the Apprenticeship Day was held with a limited visitor contingent for a total of 120 guests, which was completely booked out.

Technology company is a major trainer

With a turnover of around 1.2 billion euros, Schunk is one of the largest industrial companies in Central Hesse and one of the largest trainers in the region. At its four Central Hesse locations alone, the Schunk Group currently employs more than 125 trainees and dual students. In addition to modern training centers and regular in-house instruction and training courses, project work and excursions ensure qualified and varied training. In addition, the company offers very good prospects for the future: If they are professionally and personally suitable, Schunk takes on its trainees for an unlimited period of time. And in the past five years alone, the Schunk Group has invested 220 million euros in Central Hesse and created 340 new jobs - so the prospects for young people are excellent.
